A few years ago, I started traveling with a tiny Captain Picard action figure. I had received him as a gift from a friend years before, but kept him in the packaging on the off-chance I was the only one in the world with a dusty Picard action figure still in the packaging, and before I went to Oz/NZ, decided to take him out and have him explore the world with me.
Many people do this; along my way I’ve met people who take photos with keychains, stuffed animals, big dolls, a million Lego figures, and more! I have yet to meet another Star Trek action figure traveling the world, but assume it’s only a matter of time before I can get the Captain hanging out with a crew mate. A girl can dream!
I started a blog to throw my silly photos up, but blogs are like soooooo much work. And if all I’m doing is photos, why not just create an Instagram account?! Despite having to log-in/out of my accounts, it’s easier and I can whip stuff up on the go. Bam.
And that’s how @PicardTravels was born.
I’ve collected all my old Picard photos and am slowly posting them. I’ll likely blast the shit out of it when I’m back in India next week, too. And Picard? He loves it. His nose has gone a little black from being thrown in purses, pockets, backpacks, and stuffed Tasmanian tigers, but I think scars are charming.
If you’re into it, follow @PicardTravels on Instagram, and tell your nerdy friends to as well!
